The assessment of grape transportability includes laboratory measurement of mechanical strength. Varieties are classified by the force of berry attachment to the pedicel, where a force exceeding 200 g is considered strong, and by crush resistance. A generalized transportability coefficient allows varieties to be divided into categories: high (≥ 95), medium (75–94), and low (< 75), which determines acceptable logistics routes.
Quality indicators are influenced by agrotechnical factors. Moderate vine load and short pruning contribute to increased berry density, whereas excessive irrigation reduces it; therefore, irrigation is ceased 30 days before harvest. Phosphorus-potassium fertilizers, calcium, and micronutrients such as boron and manganese contribute to the strengthening of the skin and pedicel. During harvest, it is important to consider that the attachment strength of the berries decreases as they ripen.
