The yield of Welsh onion is determined by the mass of the marketable part of the plant — the green leaves (scallions). In perennial cultivation, this metric is the sum of several cutting cycles, whereas in annual cultivation, harvesting is performed by uprooting the entire plant. In the Central region of Russia, the yield from spring sowing is 2.4–4.6 kg/m²; scientific trials show figures reaching 44.3 t/ha, while commercial varieties typically range from 15–18 t/ha.

Productivity is significantly influenced by cultivation technology: the annual culture allows for a 1.5-fold increase in yield compared to the perennial method. The use of intensive strip-sowing patterns allows for yields up to 4.5 kg/m². When cultivated in the same location for more than 3–4 years, yields decline due to excessive clustering and overcrowding, which necessitates strict adherence to cutting schedules and optimal soil moisture management.
