Swiss chard yield is estimated by the mass of the marketable part of the plant at the stage of commercial maturity, which occurs 35–60 days after emergence. In open-field conditions, figures typically range from 3–5.5 kg/m² (up to 42 t/ha), while in protected cultivation, productivity can reach 10 kg/m².

The productivity of the crop depends directly on the cutting regime: the method of removing outer leaves while preserving the growing point allows for an extended growing season. Excessive cutting, exceeding 1/4 of the leaf rosette volume at one time, as well as damage to the growing point, leads to a significant reduction in the total seasonal yield.

Yield indicators are also influenced by a variety's resistance to premature bolting, as an early transition to the flowering phase shortens the period for obtaining marketable produce. Optimizing stand density and ensuring sufficient moisture are critical factors for maintaining the succulence and weight of the leaves.
