Greenhouse carnation cultivation

Dianthus caryophyllus L.

Carnation cultivation technology in greenhouses requires the use of tall structures, isolated beds for Fusarium wilt prevention, and the application of multi-layer support netting.

In the reference 61 varieties crop Carnation, where this is mentioned in the description.

For carnation production, structures must have a height of at least 2.5–2.7 m. Due to the crop's high susceptibility to Fusarium wilt, it is standard practice to create isolated beds with a drainage layer at a depth of up to 60 cm, utilizing specialized substrates with a pH of 6.5–7.0.

Agrotechnology includes the installation of 4–5 layers of support netting, pinching the main stem to encourage branching, side-shooting, and disbudding to obtain high-quality cut flowers. Development control is managed via the 'Cool Morning' technique; reducing light intensity and temperatures during the summer period is critical to avoid calyx splitting of the bud.

The crop reacts acutely to disruptions in the water regime and requires constant moderate substrate moisture. In industrial conditions, the use of virus-free planting material obtained through tissue culture is mandatory.
