Variety traits
Verbascum L.
The drought tolerance of Verbascum thapsus is assessed by the response of physiological and morphological parameters to a controlled water deficit of up to 15 bar.
In the reference 8 varieties crop Mullein, where this is mentioned in the description.
When studying water stress in Verbascum thapsus, changes in fresh root and shoot mass, the degree of wilting, the appearance of leaf scorch, as well as biochemical parameters such as proline levels and antioxidant enzyme activity are experimentally evaluated.
Upon reaching a critical water deficit level of 15 bar, a significant decrease in the biomass of the aboveground plant part and an increase in damage were recorded. To improve plant adaptation to moisture deficit conditions, the use of vermicompost is applied in agronomic experiments.
