The plant forms a dense bush 76–91 cm high and 81–91 cm wide with fragrant, narrow green foliage. The inflorescences are vertical spikes that retain their decorative appeal even after flowering has ended due to the colored calyces.

The variety is resistant to powdery mildew and other fungal diseases and has strong stems resistant to lodging. The plant is heat and drought tolerant, hardy in USDA zones 5–9, but requires good drainage and is sensitive to waterlogging in the winter period.

Used in landscape design for mixed borders and container plantings, and also suitable for use in fresh and dried bouquets. The variety attracts bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.
