The plant reaches a height of 10–15 cm, and during flowering, the flower stalks can rise up to 20 cm. The leaves have a scalloped edge and are colored in shades ranging from wine-red to almost black. Small bilabiate flowers of a blue-violet shade are gathered in spike-like inflorescences.
The variety forms dense, fast-growing groundcover mats via rooting stolons. Flowering occurs in late spring to early summer. The plant is characterized by frost resistance down to -34°C (USDA zone 4) and increased disease resistance.
Used for landscaping flower beds, path edges, and rock gardens; it is capable of suppressing weed growth due to its dense foliage. It is propagated exclusively vegetatively, as the variety's characteristics are not maintained through seed propagation.
