The variety is a tetraploid and is a low-growing plant 7.5–15 cm in height, forming dense mats. The leaves are larger and thicker than those of the original form, having a rounded shape with a serrated edge.
During the period from mid to late spring, the plant forms short flower stalks with blue-violet flowers. The variety shows resistance to powdery mildew and deer browsing, and is winter-hardy in USDA zones 3–10.
The plant is suitable for rock gardens and borders, and adapts well to conditions from full sun to shade. It prefers well-drained soils and requires air circulation to prevent crown rot.
The right is granted for a limited term: propagation of the variety requires a license from the rights holder.
