The variety forms a dense rounded clump 0.08 to 0.15 m tall and 0.45–0.7 m wide. Leaf color changes throughout the season: young leaves are dark burgundy, mature ones are yellow-green with apricot-burgundy tones, and in winter the foliage turns bright red.
The plant is resistant to sunburn and withstands temperatures down to –30 °C. It is used in landscape design as a groundcover plant and for bordering.
