The variety is a traditional ecotype common in Liguria and Tuscany. The plant has vigorous growth and a strong leaf apparatus. The variety is early-maturing, intended for autumn sowing and spring harvesting.
The bulbs have a round or flattened shape and a bright red or reddish-purple color of the outer scales. The flesh is white or pinkish, of a crisp consistency, and is distinguished by a very sweet and delicate taste. The variety is less susceptible to fungal diseases due to its early maturity, however, it has a limited shelf life.
