The variety belongs to the early-mid harvest group, which occurs between June and July. The plant forms a false stem of medium thickness and green leaves 40 to 60 cm long with a semi-erect position.
The bulbs have a medium size and a characteristic diamond shape. Dry scales are wine-red with yellowish shades, inner scales are white with a reddish border. The bulb is compact and has a low tendency to form daughter bulbs.
The variety is adapted to rain-fed cultivation and can grow on heavy clay soils. It is traditionally used in local cuisine as an ingredient for fish and onion soups.
