The plant reaches a height of 30–50 cm. The leaves are broad, dark green or grey-green in color, and are often covered with a waxy bloom. The cylindrical pseudo-stem is 10–25 cm in length with a diameter of up to 5–6 cm.
The variety possesses pronounced cold hardiness, which allows it to be used for autumn-winter cultivation. The blanched part of the plant has a delicate, mildly pungent taste. The variety is suitable for fresh consumption, stewing, preparing soups, and has good keeping quality.
