Inflorescences are initially egg-shaped and burgundy-purple in color; as they mature, elongated flowers emerge from the upper part, forming a tuft. The color of the flowers changes from intense green to wine-red; the stamens often have a whitish tint, creating a silvery effect. Basal leaves are strap-shaped, bright green, and often begin to die off by the start of flowering.

The plant reaches a height of 70 to 140 cm. The stems are strong and sturdy, capable of supporting large inflorescences. The variety is moderately winter hardy (zones 4–8), resistant to drought conditions and lodging. Flowering occurs in the period from May to July. It is used for planting in mixed borders and as cut flower material; dried inflorescences are suitable for winter decor.
