Variety description

The Magic variety is a hybrid of Allium schubertii and Allium atropurpureum. The plant reaches a height of 80–100 cm and forms large cup-shaped or spherical umbel inflorescences consisting of small star-shaped flowers of a purple-violet or magenta-violet shade. Basal leaves are strap-shaped and bright green, often dying off before flowering begins.
Flowering occurs from late spring to early summer. The variety is suitable for groups, borders, container cultivation, and cutting, and it maintains its decorative appeal after flowering. The plant is winter-hardy in USDA zones 5–8, resistant to rodents and deer, but under unfavorable conditions, it may be affected by fungal diseases and specific onion pests.
