The variety was obtained by clonal selection from a local population. The plant is characterized by the dark color of the leaf blade. The growing period from planting to harvest of first-class commercial roots is approximately 180 days.
The roots of the variety are distinguished by a pearly-white flesh color and a moderately pungent taste; the vitamin C content in them exceeds 100 mg per 100 g of product. The crop is traditionally grown using the ridge method and is historically tied to the Hajdúság region.
