The variety is a perennial loose-tufted grass. The height of the stems typically varies in the range from 80 to 120 cm, although data in literature mentions heights reaching up to 150 cm.

The plant is used as a forage crop for hay meadows and is valued as a high-yielding grass for valley meadows with a utilization regime of 2–3 cuts. In pure stands, the produce may have a bitter aftertaste, therefore the variety is often used as part of grass mixtures.
