The variety is historical and originates from the Levoča region in Slovakia. Tall oat-grass is a perennial loose-bunching tall grass with stem heights ranging from 60 to 150 cm.

The crop is characterized by early maturity and the ability to regrow rapidly after mowing, which allows for multiple cuts per season. However, timely harvesting is important as the hay quickly becomes coarse. The plant exhibits drought tolerance but is sensitive to prolonged flooding.
