The plant is an erect herbaceous perennial, reaching a height of 0.8 to 1.5 m. The leaves are bright green in color, broad-lanceolate or ovate in shape, and pointed.

Flowers of a carmine-purple or ruby-red shade are gathered in dense spike-shaped inflorescences about 20 cm long. The flowering period lasts from July to October.

The variety is characterized by good winter hardiness and drought tolerance. Compared to other forms of the species, this variety is more compact and less prone to rapid spreading in the plot.
