The variety forms a vigorous leaf rosette up to 1 meter in height. The root crops have an elongated shape, resembling fodder beet, and partially protrude above the soil surface, by approximately half. The weight of the root crops varies from 2 to 6 kg.

The plant belongs to mid-late varieties; the period from full germination to technical maturity is 130–150 days. The variety is drought-tolerant, and due to its stiff leaves containing bitterness, it possesses relative resistance to a number of pests affecting cruciferous crops.

The primary use of the variety is forage, however, it can also be used in cooking. In a botanical sense, the variety is classified as a swede, despite erroneous mentions found in some sources regarding its belonging to turnips or hybrids with fodder kale.
