This name is a traditional regional designation for a leafy form of Brassica oleracea, characteristic of the Primorska and Istra regions. The plant forms large green leaves and represents a collection of local ecotypes adapted to the conditions of the Balkan region.

The variety is year-round and demonstrates high resistance to low temperatures. The crop can be harvested throughout the year, including the winter period, while the flavor qualities of the leaves improve after the onset of cold weather.

The plant is traditionally used in cooking for preparing stewed dishes with the addition of potatoes, root vegetables, and meat delicacies, and is also used as a base for stuffed cabbage rolls.
