The variety «Wener Blauwe» (synonym «Wiener Blauer Glas») is a traditional Viennese selection from the mid-XIX century. It is a non-hybrid variety intended for home vegetable gardening, suitable for cultivation in open field during the spring and autumn periods.
The plant forms round-shaped stem-tubers with dark purple skin. The flesh of the tuber is juicy, cream-white in color, and is distinguished by a mild taste. The variety is demanding of soil fertility and moisture, and is suitable for fresh consumption and culinary processing.
