The variety De Montesson, also known as Navet de Péronne, is an heirloom French turnip variety. The root vegetables have a long conical shape, white skin with a characteristic purple or reddish-purple upper part, and white sweet flesh. The plant belongs to varieties with entire leaves.

It belongs to the category of winter varieties possessing high cold tolerance, which allows the root vegetables to be left in the soil for part of the winter period. Sowing is recommended in July-August; with spring planting dates after March, the plant is prone to rapid bolting.
