The variety is a mutation of Calluna vulgaris 'Dark Star' and belongs to the Garden Girls breeding line. The plant forms a compact bush with upright shoots from 20 to 40 cm high. The leaves are small, scale-like, dark green in color, and persist during the winter period.
Flowering is abundant and prolonged, the flowers are double. The plant is winter-hardy, prefers acidic, light, sandy or peaty soils without stagnant moisture. It requires spring pruning to maintain shape and rejuvenate the bush.
The variety is used in ornamental gardening for creating carpet plantings, group plantings, designing rock gardens and rockeries, as well as for growing in containers.
