The «Gold Calif» variety belongs to the Chaenomeles (Japanese quince) crop. It was obtained by the breeder V. N. Mezhensky as a mutation of the «Kalif» variety. Within the framework of this breeding program, work was conducted on creating forms characterized by the absence of thorns, large fruit size, fleshy fruit, and high productivity.
The fruits of this variety are suitable for various industrial processing. The plant possesses high resistance to diseases and pests, which makes it suitable for organic gardening.
