The variety forms a loose rosette of green leaves and possesses the bitterness characteristic of the crop. For cultivation, summer sowing in July is recommended, with subsequent harvesting in October or November. To improve leaf quality, it is recommended to tie the rosette for blanching three weeks before harvest.

The plant is an annual in terms of seed production. In the flowering phase, it forms sturdy stems 140–150 cm high with blue flowers. The variety is genetically close to the Breedblad Volhart Winter group and is currently maintained within the framework of programs for the preservation of traditional varieties for home gardening.
