The plant forms compact, well-filled heads about 20 cm in height. The leaves are strongly curled, dark green in color with a creamy-white heart. The taste of the crispy leaves is pungent, with a pronounced bitterness that is more intense in the outer layers.
The variety is intended for summer and autumn cultivation with sowing from April to August. It is easily blanched to obtain more tender leaves. It is used fresh in salads and is also suitable for stewing and soups.
