The variety belongs to the curly endive group (Cichorium endivia var. crispum). The plant forms a rosette with a diameter of 40–45 cm with highly dissected, curly green leaves, while the inner part of the rosette has a less pronounced yellow coloration.
In literature, the variety is predominantly characterized as mid-season, although in a number of early sources it is encountered as late-maturing. The variety is distinguished by high cold hardiness, which makes it suitable for cultivation in coastal area conditions, and is used as a salad crop.
