The variety belongs to the curly endive group. The leaves are deeply dissected, strongly curled, and light green in color. The plant forms large rosettes up to 38–50 cm in diameter and approximately 25 cm in height. The variety has the ability for partial self-blanching of the inner part of the rosette.

The period from sowing to harvest is 75–80 days. The plant is cold-tolerant, resistant to humid conditions and temperature fluctuations. The leaves are crunchy with a characteristic bitter taste. The variety is an heirloom, open-pollinated, allowing for the use of own seeds.
