A compact evergreen tree or large shrub with a dense rounded crown, reaching a height of 2.4 to 4.5 meters under natural conditions. The branches are practically thornless. The leaves are dark green, with a glossy surface, and are lanceolate or oval in shape.
The fruits are rounded or slightly oval, golden-orange in color, with a thick edible peel and juicy pulp. Flowering occurs periodically from spring until the end of summer; fruit ripening falls within the period from late autumn to winter.
The plant belongs to the most frost-hardy citrus species, but it requires protection during extreme frosts. The variety is sensitive to zinc deficiency, which manifests as a reduction in leaf size.
