The plant is an evergreen shrub or small tree. The fruits have an oval or obovate shape and contain from 2 to 5 seeds. The rind of the fruit is sweet, while the pulp has an acidic taste, which is why they are typically consumed whole.
The harvest period falls in the second half of winter, from October to January. Mature specimens are capable of producing up to 3000 fruits. The plant possesses drought tolerance and relative cold hardiness, withstanding temperature drops down to -15°C.
The variety is used as a fruit crop for fresh consumption and processing into candied fruit, jam, marmalade, and liqueurs, as well as an ornamental plant.
