The Einav variety was created as part of the Israeli citrus breeding program at the Volcani Institute. The development is aimed at producing fruits with high consumer appeal, including excellent taste qualities, an attractive appearance, and ease of peeling.

In terms of flavor properties and aromatic volatile profile, the variety is close to the Orri variety. Einav demonstrates differences from the latter in terms of fruit size, peel color, seed count, vitamin C content, and antioxidant activity level.
