The variety belongs to the Satsuma group and represents a local Croatian selection, identified as a mutation of the Kawano Wase group. The plant possesses relative frost resistance, which allows it to be cultivated in the Neretva River valley.

The fruits ripen in September, which classifies the variety as extra-early. The variety is susceptible to the Citrus tristeza virus; therefore, programs for obtaining certified virus-free planting material using thermotherapy and micrografting methods are used for propagation.
