The hybrid was discovered in Jamaica in the 1920s and was historically associated with the Ortanique variety. The variety gained commercial importance in Cyprus, where climatic conditions are favorable for its cultivation. The fruits have a shape close to that of an orange, often slightly flattened at the poles.

The fruit peel is an intense orange color, rather tough and coarse compared to clementines, which makes them harder to peel than regular mandarins. The pulp is tender, and the juice content exceeds 60% of the fruit weight. The taste is characterized as sweet, with a pronounced acidity and a rich aroma.

The fruits ripen during the winter-spring period, with the main season lasting from January to April. They are intended for fresh consumption and are also suitable for making marmalades. Specific data on plant height or disease resistance are unavailable.
