The Green Goblin variety is a perennial ornamental grass formed as a dense compact clump 80–120 cm high. The plant has linear leaves that are evergreen in mild climates, dark green in color with a rough surface and an arched curve.

Flowering occurs relatively early, usually from August to October, and is accompanied by the appearance of dense short panicles of a cream-white shade. The variety belongs to hardiness zone 7 and requires protection of the roots from excess moisture during the winter period.

The plant is used in landscape design for creating borders or as a specimen plant, and due to its small size, it is suitable for growing in containers on terraces and patios. Flower stalks can be used for cutting.
