The plant is a broad multi-stemmed shrub reaching a height of 5–7 meters. The fruits are large, dark brown with stripes, and have a characteristic angular or bumpy shape. The nuts are grouped in clusters of 2–5, and ripening occurs in August-September.
The variety is winter hardy and wind resistant. It is self-incompatible, so the presence of pollinator varieties is necessary to obtain a yield. It is used as a fruit crop and in landscape design for creating group plantings and hedges.
