The Gunsleben variety, also known by the names Gunslebener Zellernuss, Gunslebener Riesennuss, or Gunslebert, is a cultivated form of hazelnut. The fruits are characterized as quite large, oblong in shape, with uneven roundness and flattening in the apical area.
The variety is actively used in contemporary scientific work as a genetic sample for the study of DNA markers and the analysis of the diversity of European hazelnut varieties. Data regarding its agrotechnical characteristics and commercial yield are limited.
