Merveille de Bollwiller
ActiveCorylus avellana L. · Common hazel
WEISSMANN (FR)
10 August 2026
The variety is of Turkish origin and is historically referred to as Imperial de Trapezunt. In modern genetic diversity studies, it is often grouped with other Turkish hazelnut varieties.
In regions with a climate similar to the Italian Lazio, a very early pollen shedding period has been recorded for this variety, beginning in mid-December. The variety has been tested for the absence of a number of viruses and is used in genetic resource collections for breeding purposes.
As the variety is an old landrace, clones with morphological differences may grow under this name in different regions. Detailed data on productivity, bush height, and nut quality indicators are not available in open sources.
1 jurisdiction
Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
