The variety is a compact shrub with strongly twisted, tortuous branches. Compared to the Contorta variety, it is distinguished by denser branching, smaller dimensions, and greater flexibility of the branches. After 10 years, the plant reaches a height and width of about 1.5–2 meters.
The plant is winter-hardy and undemanding; it prefers moist, well-drained soils. Although the variety is capable of bearing fruit, which ripens in late August or early September, it is grown exclusively as an ornamental plant for landscape design and floristics.

Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
