The variety is a hybrid obtained by crossing Corylus avellana and Corylus maxima. The plant forms a vigorous shrub reaching a height of up to 6 meters. One of the key characteristics is the spectacular foliage coloration: young leaves are bright red in spring; this color is maintained on young shoots and involucres throughout the summer.
The fruits are medium-sized, almost spherical in shape, and possess good filling and a distinct flavor. The nuts ripen in September – October and may fall without involucres. The variety is self-fertile, demonstrates good winter hardiness, and overall resistance to diseases.
Nutrient-rich soils are required for cultivation. When shaping the bush, it is necessary to remove excess shoots to prevent overgrowth. Using grafting onto a Corylus colurna rootstock accelerates the onset of fruiting and limits the formation of root suckers.
