Variety description

10 August 2026

The Lambert Cob variety is a classic form of hazelnut known in English commercial horticulture. Its cultivation history in Europe can be traced back to the beginning of the 19th century. There is little direct data on plant height and precise agronomic characteristics of this historic variety in modern sources.

In Russian-language catalogs, red-leaved forms of hazelnut are usually offered under the name "Lambert". Such plants are shrubs 3–5 meters in height with foliage changing color from red to greenish-burgundy. The fruits have an average weight of 2–2.5 grams, and the yield is 5–8 kg per bush. These forms are characterized by winter hardiness down to -30°C and are often used as pollinators.
