The shrub reaches a height of 4–5 meters. The variety features ornamental foliage, which has a bright reddish hue in spring, turns green in summer, and becomes burgundy again in autumn. Ornamental value is also provided by early and abundant flowering with dark red "catkins".
The variety has a medium ripening period, with harvest taking place from the second half of September to the beginning of October. The nuts, weighing 2–2.5 g, have an ovoid shape and a thin shell, and are collected in clusters of 2–8. The plant is winter-hardy, withstands frosts down to -30°C, and is resistant to typical diseases.
