The variety originates from the mountainous Nebrodi area in the province of Messina (Italy) and is a historically established local genotype, not the result of breeding. The crop is grown in orchards with a planting density of 400 to 800 plants per hectare with the crown formed in a bush shape.
Studies of the variety are focused on methods for cleaning from Apple mosaic virus, in vitro micropropagation protocols for producing certified planting material, and the conservation of regional genetic resources. Detailed agronomic and qualitative characteristics of the fruit are not described in scientific publications.
1 jurisdiction
Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
