The variety Pervenec, also known as hybrid No. 1241, is an interspecific hybrid obtained by crossing Far Eastern filbert and large-fruited hazelnut. The plant is a medium-sized shrub 3.5–4 meters in height, prone to abundant basal shoot formation.
The fruits of the variety are large, weighing 1.5–2.1 g (up to 2.5 g), elongated in shape, with a thin golden-yellow shell. The kernel contains about 65% vegetable fats. Fruit ripening in the conditions of Central Russia occurs in the second to third ten-day period of September. The variety fruits annually, providing a yield of 4–6 kg per bush.
The plant is characterized by high winter hardiness and the ability to withstand late frosts. The buds of the variety are resistant to damage by the big bud mite. Due to the long shedding period of the male catkins, Pervenec is valued as an effective pollinator for other hazelnut varieties.
