The cultivar was obtained within the framework of the Italian breeding program. Genetically, it is a hybrid of the cultivars Tonda Gentile Trilobata and Cosford.

In studies of susceptibility to the hazelnut bud mite Phytoptus avellanae, the cultivar showed intermediate levels of infestation. Good plant survival is noted during propagation and rooting.
