The TZ 148 hybrid (TZ-148 F1) was obtained by crossing Cucurbita maxima and Cucurbita moschata. It is intended exclusively for use as a rootstock for grafting watermelon, melon, and cucumber.
The plant has a vigorous root system, which contributes to an increase in fruit size and the productivity of grafted crops. The hybrid shows high resistance to Fusarium wilt and Verticillium wilt caused by soil-borne pathogens.
