The variety Le Crete 2 is a breeding clone developed for the restoration of cypress populations affected by the epidemic. It is characterized by high tolerance to clay soils and is adapted to Mediterranean conditions.

The main feature of the clone lies in its genetically determined ability to resist infection by the fungus Seiridium cardinale through the formation of a ligno-suberized protective barrier. The tree has a columnar crown shape, possesses good growth vigor, and is suitable for producing high-quality timber.
