Cydora Robusta
ActiveCydonia oblonga Mill. · Quince
10 August 2026
The tree is characterized by vigorous growth and reaches 4–5 meters in height. The fruits have a pear-shaped, often ribbed form; as they ripen, they change color from lemon-green to bright golden and orange. It is an autumn-maturing variety, with the harvest gathered in late September or October.
The fruit flesh is aromatic, sweet-and-sour, and slightly tart. After heat treatment, it becomes softer and takes on a characteristic red color. Due to the high pectin content, the fruits are considered among the best for making jams, jellies, and marmalade.
The variety is self-fertile, however, it is less frost-resistant compared to other representatives of the crop, and therefore is suitable for warm regions or cultivation in sheltered locations.
