Cydora Robusta
ActiveCydonia oblonga Mill. · Quince
10 August 2026
The variety is a vegetatively propagated clonal rootstock valued for its high compatibility with various pear varieties. Trees grafted onto it reach a height of 3–4.5 meters, which is approximately 70% of the growth of trees on seedling rootstocks, and begin to bear fruit 2–4 years after planting.
The plant has a powerful root system with good anchorage. It is resistant to soil waterlogging for up to 30 days and tolerates drought and calcareous soils better than many other rootstocks. The root system withstands a decrease in soil temperature down to -13...-14°C.
The rootstock shows high resistance to leaf blight and crown gall, while having medium tolerance to fire blight. BA 29 quince fruits have a weight of 150–250 g, are light green in color and slightly pubescent; when used as a rootstock, an increase in the size and intensity of the color of the scion fruits is noted.
