The Adams rootstock is used for intensive pear cultivation, providing a balance between tree vigor and productivity. It allows for the formation of compact trees and promotes the production of well-sized fruits.
This rootstock is characterized by winter hardiness and adaptability to regions with limited water resources. It is sensitive to high lime content in the soil and prefers fertile, moist, and well-drained soils.
Adams possesses better compatibility with European pear varieties than Quince A. Despite this, for some varieties, such as Williams, the use of an intermediate graft may be required due to biological incompatibility.
