The Opera F1 artichoke is an early hybrid with a dense, upright growth habit. The plants are characterized by a high degree of uniformity.

The inflorescences are purple in color, have a broad base, and an average weight of 300–400 g. The variety is intended for cultivation in an annual cycle and the sale of produce in the fresh market; it can also be used for flower production.

The leaf mass of the hybrid is being studied for its content of biologically active compounds, including polyphenols and sesquiterpene lactones.
